Season 5 Ep.6: "Prick Up Your Ears" References

  • Mayor West watches a sitcom entitled "Rodney King of Queens."
  • Chris is watching an episode of "Genital Hospital" (as in "General Hospital").
  • Michael Jackson is doing a Mini Wheats commercial in which he discusses that the kid in him likes the frosted side, and the grown-up likes the kid inside. This is not only spoofing the tagline of the Mini Wheats commercial, but it also alludes to Jackson's alleged sexual misconduct with a minor.
  • As Peter discusses missed opportunities in his life, he imagines himself as a Tetris block messing up the game.
  • While Peter teaches Sex Ed class, he demonstrates sexual intercourse with a Rainbow Brite doll and a bust of Shakespeare.
  • Stewie is playing with Fisher Price toys.
  • Peter says that without his advice, his Sex Ed students will be as hopeless as Liam Neeson trying to play an American cowboy.
  • "Family Guy" tosses to a commercial with the theme of "Knight Rider."
  • An unhip guest speaker at James Woods High School tries to relate to students by referencing The Matrix and "Mad TV."
  • That same guest speaker also introduces "Opal Rings" as a tactic in abstaining from sex. This is a spoof of "Purity Rings."
  • Picasso is shown painting a picture of Diane Wiest.
  • To protect himself from the tooth fairy, Stewie sets up a toy army consisting of a green-colored Spongebob, Transformer Starscream, and Man-E Faces from "He-Man & the Masters of the Universe."
  • Stewie says that the sneaky tooth fairy is "quieter than Britney Spears' dietitian."
  • Peter is watching "Laguna Beach."
  • Herbert is dreaming of Fred Savage of "The Wonder Years."
  • During role playing night, Lois dresses up as Grimace, the purple McDonald's character who Peter refers to as Ronald McDonald's "retarded friend."
  • Tom Tucker accuses fellow anchor Diane of watching "CSI" while having sex with strangers.
  • Stewie wears Herbert's dentures and pretends to be Gary Busey.
  • Brian says that unlike Karen Carpenter, his girlfriend does not overdo bulimia.
  • Stewie says Jillian looks jolly like Ruben Studdard, John Goodman and Santa.
  • Stewie says "...just like Geri fought comedy on 'The Facts of Life'."
  • Lois says "Meth is a hell of a drug", just like Rick James said "Cocaine is a hell of a drug" during an episode of the "Chapelle's Show."

  • Harry Houdini is shown getting out of a dinner date by disappaering into the coat closet.
  • In a running gag about text messages, Cleveland says "Sock it to me," a famous line from late 60s tv show "Laugh-In."
