Season 5 Ep. 2: "Mother Tucker" References


  • In this episode we get to know Peter's mom Thelma, who looks a whole lot like the comic strip Maxine character.

  • During the air show, Peter complains that the show is so boring, he'd rather watch the video from The Ring which turns out to be a copy of the 80's movie Mannequin.

  • During Quagmire's air show performance, he crashes through billboards promoting "Veronica Mars", "The Simple Life" and, with a little help from Jack Daniels, "Greta van Sustren.

  • In one snippet we get to see the adult, tattooed Charlie Brown who claims to have sold Snoopy the drugs that killed him.

  • Gore Vidal is mentioned as a guest on Brian's radio show. Vidal actually shows up at the station later that episode

  • We get to see a Tourett's Syndrome-ridden spider in Charlotte's Web.

  • Stewie models a scene after the 1971 movie Harold & Maude.

  • One of the jingles Brian and Stewie play on the radio contains Long Duck Dong's famous "hey sexy girlfriend" line from Sixteen Candles.

  • Peter pretends to be Tom Tucker's private physician Dr.T and the Women, which is also a Richard Gere movie.

  • "3 Wishes with Amy Grant" is mentioned. During the scene, a weird looking Spiderman shows up.

  • Lois and Peter are watching the movie "Masturbator and Commander" which spoofs Master and Commander.

  • Peter's evil twin Thaddaus shows up in a balloon. He seems to be modeled after Professor Fate of The Great Race.

  • We are introduced to Darth Vader who seeks a loan to build the Death Star.

  • Brian and Stewie's radio show turns into a Howard Stern-like radio program when they ask their female guest to catch hot dogs with her mouth to win money toward her much needed breast enhancement.

  • While trying to play wacky sound bites for his radio show, Stewie accidentally plays a jingle of Denzel Washington taken directly from the movie Philadelphia.

  • We see Stewie in a Butterfinger commercial, saying D'oh like Homer Simpson of "The Simpsons".
