Season 7 Ep.1: "Love Blactually" References

  • The title itself is a spoof of the movie Love Actually.
  • During a costume party, Peter is dressed up as Laura Bush, Lois is the guy who was killed by Laura Bush in a wreck, both Brian and Stewie are Snoopy, Quagmire is Napoleon Dynamite (and is wearing a "Vote for Pedro" shirt), and Cleveland is Charlie Chaplin. Quagmire thinks Joe is dressed up as FDR, Peter mistakes him for Stephen Hawking at the beach and Quagmire calls him crippled Magnum P.I. Actually, Joe is dressed down as Olympic swimmer Mark Spitz.
  • As Snoopy, Brian does the Snoopy dance.
  • At the costume party, Brian is introduced to a woman, that he thinks is dressed like a Freddy Kruger victim.
  • Peter punches Brian in the stomach thinking he can't feel it. Brian reminds him that it's Houdini who can't feel punches in the stomach.
  • While being Snoopy, Brian is followed through the house by Woodchuck (also a character from "Peanuts").
  • While in the bookstore, we can see a book with Darth Vader on the cover in the background.
  • Stewie picks up a book in which Horton hears domestic violence (a spoof of Dr. Suess' "Horton Hears a Who").
  • Brian picks up a book of Richard Dawkins, a popular British ethologist, evolutionary biologist and science writer.
  • Brian notices while watching a movie that it had to be a "touching" film since Robin Williams was wearing a beard.
  • While Cleveland is having sex with Carolyn, he exclaims "Boom goes the dynamite." This quote is taken directly from a viral YouTube video in which a Ball State student sportscaster says the same phrase during a score at a basketball match.
  • Peter thinks Cleveland's former wife is called Jennifer Hudson, Weezie, or Florida (the latter two names of which are from "The Jeffersons" even though Florida refers to Florence).
  • When Brian is lying, his snout gets long just like Pinocchio's nose.
  • In a flashback, Cyrano de Bergerac is exposed as being anti-semitic.
  • Quagmire shows off his privates by saying Apache Penis EE-NAY-CHUCK, spoofing Apache Chief of the "Super Friends."
  • A naked Quagmire alludes to the famous 1837 fairy tale The Emperor's New Clothes.

Season 5 Ep.6: "Prick Up Your Ears" References

  • Mayor West watches a sitcom entitled "Rodney King of Queens."
  • Chris is watching an episode of "Genital Hospital" (as in "General Hospital").
  • Michael Jackson is doing a Mini Wheats commercial in which he discusses that the kid in him likes the frosted side, and the grown-up likes the kid inside. This is not only spoofing the tagline of the Mini Wheats commercial, but it also alludes to Jackson's alleged sexual misconduct with a minor.
  • As Peter discusses missed opportunities in his life, he imagines himself as a Tetris block messing up the game.
  • While Peter teaches Sex Ed class, he demonstrates sexual intercourse with a Rainbow Brite doll and a bust of Shakespeare.
  • Stewie is playing with Fisher Price toys.
  • Peter says that without his advice, his Sex Ed students will be as hopeless as Liam Neeson trying to play an American cowboy.
  • "Family Guy" tosses to a commercial with the theme of "Knight Rider."
  • An unhip guest speaker at James Woods High School tries to relate to students by referencing The Matrix and "Mad TV."
  • That same guest speaker also introduces "Opal Rings" as a tactic in abstaining from sex. This is a spoof of "Purity Rings."

  • To protect himself from the tooth fairy, Stewie sets up a toy army consisting of a green-colored Spongebob, Transformer Starscream, and Man-E Faces from "He-Man & the Masters of the Universe."
  • Stewie says that the sneaky tooth fairy is "quieter than Britney Spears' dietitian."
  • Peter is watching "Laguna Beach."
  • Herbert is dreaming of Fred Savage of "The Wonder Years."
  • During role playing night, Lois dresses up as Grimace, the purple McDonald's character who Peter refers to as Ronald McDonald's "retarded friend."

Season 5 Ep.5: "Whistle While Your Wife Works" References

  • The episode title itself is an allusion to a song from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs called "Whistle While You Work."
  • Chris acts out a scene in which he plays an FBI agent chasing David Koresh, the former leader of the Waco, Texas Branch Davidian cult.
  • When Brian doesn't want to introduce his new girlfriend to Stewie, Stewie starts chanting the famous old-school cheer "U-G-L-Y - you ain't got no alibi..."
  • Peter hides his porn in a "Get Smart"-style spy headquarter.
  • Quagmire says, "Skinemax doesn't show the good stuff until 3 a.m." (Skinemax is the nickname for pay-tv channel Cinemax).
  • Peter flashes back to a time when the guys hung out at I.H.O.P. with the "big horned guy" from Legend.
  • While hanging out at the brewery, the guys wonder who they'd strike down first if they were God -Debra Messing or French Stewart.
  • Nobody but Quagmire knows who Tim Daly or Tony Shaloub of "Wings" are. (This is funny because Quagmire is a pilot, and "Wings" was a 90s tv show centered around quirky characters running a Nantucket-based airline).
  • Peter has weekly phone discussions with his friends during which they recite plots of movies to him. (It's the same movies every week). He relies on Cleveland for discussing You, Me, and Dupree & Quagmire for Along Came Polly.
  • Peter mocks a Life cereal commercial.
  • When Stewie asks what Brian could possibly have to talk about with his airheaded girlfriend Jillian, Brian says they talk about MTV's "Real World / Road Rules Challenge."
  • Brian's ring tone is Axel F. by Harold Faltermeyer, made famous in the Beverly Hills Cop movie.

  • The episode title itself is already an allusion to Tom Hank's movie Saving Private Ryan.
  • A song sounding almost identical to Def Leppards's "Pour Some Sugar on Me" serves as the music for an Army commercial.
  • Mickey Rooney is parodied in a commercial for crazy pills.
  • Stewie claims a phrase from "The Onion" as his own, and Brian calls him out on it.
  • Peter and Lois are watching "Robert," a spin-off of "Everybody loves Raymond."
  • Stewie and Brian discuss Revenge of the Sith.
  • Peter has therapy with Comedy Central's "Dr. Katz."
  • A high school band changes the lyrics of KISS' "Rock and Roll All Night" to "party every first Thursday."
  • Peter says Laura Dern looks like a banana.
  • Peter is seen reading a Choose Your Own Adventure book.
  • We learn that Muddy Waters sounds like Muddy Waters because he passes kidney stones while singing.

  • When Stewie and Brian join the Army, their drill Sgt. calls Brian a "private dancer, dancer for money." These are lyrics to a Tina Turner song.
  • Zinedine Zidane is seen giving a headbutt birthday telegram to an old lady. He became famous for headbutting Italy's defender Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup.
  • When Chris stage dives and crashes through the floor, he ends up in the famous painting "Dogs Playing Poker" with Mayor West at the table.
  • During military training, the soldiers break into show tunes, ending with a tune from West Side Story.
  • Garth Brooks' alter ego Chris Gaines is referenced.
  • Peter imagines a car full of Gregory Pecks.
  • Part of the military obstacle course includes solving a Rubik's cube, finding Waldo, & playing Perfection (the latter of which is a Milton Bradley game). While Brian is running this course, the theme from Stripes is playing.

  • Chris has a Wu-Tang Clan CD & a poster of Marilyn Manson in his room. Later in the episode, Peter punches Manson for corrupting his son Brian.
  • George Bush is seen playing with a Slinky toy in the White House.
  • Marilyn Manson is seen giving advice to Chris with words taken from a Grape Nuts commercial.

Season 5 Ep. 3: "Hell Comes to Quahog" References

  • Peter stars in the Broadway musical version of the movie Red Dawn.
  • When Peter & his friends give Meg a ride to the skating rink, they stop in & skate Saturday Night Fever style.
  • The Griffins are watching a "Pepperidge Farm" commercial.
  • We get to see how the Iceman survives without a car.
  • When Peter says, "Grab some wood there, bub," this alludes to the same lines spoken by the principal in The Breakfast Club.
  • Stewie wants a sewing machine - a wish shared by the girls of the "Brady Bunch" during the episode entitled "54-40 & Fight."
  • A Hummer driver watches Madagascar while driving.
  • At the drive-in, Peter and Lois are watching Jeff Daniels and Bill Pullman in The Even Couple. This is an obvious spoof of the movie The Odd Couple.
  • Peter complains that Meg always ruins his good time, just like TBS does when they air the movie Showgirls.
  • The Griffins watch an episode of the "Ghost Whisperer" which features an exaggerated version of Jennifer Love Hewitt's breasts.
  • Peter kills Yogi Bear as a favor for a park ranger.
  • While working at Superstore USA, one of Meg's job duties is to feed Sloth of The Goonies a Baby Ruth.
  • The music playing as Brian drives the tank through Superstore USA is from "The A-Team," & Brian wearing a bandana & smoking a cigar represents Hannibal.
  • In a flashback, Peter encounters a gang of Tom Brokaws.
  • Peter says that what's worse than finding a job is Easter Sunday at Richard Gere's house. Peter than references the gerbil rumor by saying the Easter eggs are hidden in Gere's butt.
  • During a local news break, anchor Diane Simmons introduces a clip from the kids' show "The Electric Company" by yelling Rita Moreno's famous "Hey you guys..." (Though this catchphrase is from "The Electric Company," this can also be seen as this episode's second allusion to Sloth, who also says Moreno's famous phrase in The Goonies).
  • Peter is yelling about the sensation he gets while standing atop a mountain, which is taken from a York Peppermint Patty commercial.
  • "Hardcastle & McCormick" is mentioned.

Season 5 Ep. 2: "Mother Tucker" References


  • In this episode we get to know Peter's mom Thelma, who looks a whole lot like the comic strip Maxine character.

  • During the air show, Peter complains that the show is so boring, he'd rather watch the video from The Ring which turns out to be a copy of the 80's movie Mannequin.

  • During Quagmire's air show performance, he crashes through billboards promoting "Veronica Mars", "The Simple Life" and, with a little help from Jack Daniels, "Greta van Sustren.

  • In one snippet we get to see the adult, tattooed Charlie Brown who claims to have sold Snoopy the drugs that killed him.

  • Gore Vidal is mentioned as a guest on Brian's radio show. Vidal actually shows up at the station later that episode

  • We get to see a Tourett's Syndrome-ridden spider in Charlotte's Web.

  • Stewie models a scene after the 1971 movie Harold & Maude.

  • One of the jingles Brian and Stewie play on the radio contains Long Duck Dong's famous "hey sexy girlfriend" line from Sixteen Candles.

  • Peter pretends to be Tom Tucker's private physician Dr.T and the Women, which is also a Richard Gere movie.

  • "3 Wishes with Amy Grant" is mentioned. During the scene, a weird looking Spiderman shows up.

  • Lois and Peter are watching the movie "Masturbator and Commander" which spoofs Master and Commander.

  • Peter's evil twin Thaddaus shows up in a balloon. He seems to be modeled after Professor Fate of The Great Race.

  • We are introduced to Darth Vader who seeks a loan to build the Death Star.

  • Brian and Stewie's radio show turns into a Howard Stern-like radio program when they ask their female guest to catch hot dogs with her mouth to win money toward her much needed breast enhancement.

  • While trying to play wacky sound bites for his radio show, Stewie accidentally plays a jingle of Denzel Washington taken directly from the movie Philadelphia.

  • We see Stewie in a Butterfinger commercial, saying D'oh like Homer Simpson of "The Simpsons".

Season 5 Ep. 1: "Stewie Loves Lois" References



  • Robin Boy Wonder appears on the Quahog News, trying to save 4 girls going over the cliff. Unfortunately they do not appreciate his efforts, claiming he doesn't have any superpowers.

  • Peter references "Frampton comes Alive" after being called a monster claiming that album is a monster.

  • Peter attends college. After he passes a test, he runs outside as Kenny Loggins' "I'm Free" plays in the background. (This Loggins song is featured in the movie Footlose). Once outside, Peter jumps in the air while pumping his fist like in the final scene from The Breakfast Club.


  • While switching channels on the TV, Peter and Brian come across Tom Green's movie Freddie Got Fingered, E.T., and a commercial for the Yellow Pages.


  • When Stewie is showing off his moves, he threatens Lois & asks whether she wants some of this Maury Po'bitch, referencing the talk show host.


  • Stewie is eating a ScoobyDoo yogurt.


  • Stewie claims Brian loves Olympia Dukakis, which he admits.


  • Chris knows there's an Orange Julius in the mall.


  • Stewie compares Lois to a female Bonnie Hunt.


  • Stewie fell asleep watching Sabado Gigante which is featured in a snippet.


  • Quahog News interrupts a Native American version of "What's Happening".

  • Lois thinks she's just like Barbara Bush, who gave her son brain damage.

  • Brian compares Stewie to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Sulu.


  • Peter goes to see Enterprise's Dr. Coy about his prostate. Mr. Sulu shows up again while Peter has his pants around his ankles.


  • Stewie uses a machine gun the way Tony Montana uses it in Scarface.


  • Seamus carries with him, among other things, a map of Middle Earth and a band picture of Primus.


  • Stewie mentions Tommy Lee's Pool Party at which one of his son's party guests drowned.


  • Michael Jackson's child molestation trial is spoofed by Stewie testifying against him.


  • Dr. Hartman finds Mr. Sulu (third appearance in the episode) in Peter's behind.


  • The end credits are in direct reference to the closing credits of the 70's show "All in the Family."
